The soldiers, wearing camouflaged pyjamas and frills of DWS colours, gave a concert too. 'Burglar Jim' was deemed 'the most thrilling item. The song 'When you're a long long way from home' brought tears to many eyes, 'the loneliness of the boys in France seemed so real'. (This song, written in 1914 and recorded by Henry Burr, was popular during the War years)

Everyone joined in the chorus of 'Goodbye-ee'. 'The soldiers had a version of their own' (It would be interesting to know what that was!) They wanted to dance as a 'grand finale; but time did not permit'. In short, everyone had a great time. The following week DWS girls went to a special matinee of the Men's Pierrot concert given especially for their benefit.
