Playtime at Glyn Malden in the 1950s

A group of girls dressed in compulsory playtime dungarees, standing by the field where we spent many hours playing, making dens and exploring. We even formed a skiffle band with an old washboard and packing case.

On one occasion we went exploring up the stream which ran through the property. It was strictly out of bounds, for good reason, as a huge boulder crushed my foot and I was laid up for weeks. That didn't mean we escaped punishment, probably endless lines.
