Sampler made by Emily Williams - late 19th century

This sampler is being donated by the granddaughter of Emily Williams to Dolgellau Record Office. Emily was born on 19th January 1875. She was a day pupil at DWS. Her name and 'Dr Wms' school' are embroidered in this detail, along with the initials of her sisters and brothers, Mary Ann,Nellie, Richard Parry and Albert Wilson Williams. The sampler must have been done after 1887 when Albert was born. Emily lived at Gwernan Villa, near Gwernan Lake at the foot of Cader Idris. Her father was a Traveller at the time of the 1891 Census.
